Road and highway maintenance varies enormously from one section of LATMA to another. Outside the bounds of the metropolis, highways have typically degraded to such an extent, and are so commonly monitored by criminals, that use of ground vehicles outside the city's general perimeter is commonly lethal. As a consequence, air transport in the form of aerodyne has become much more common with the well-to-do.

Motorcycles are still seen on the roads though the type will vary widely depending on where they are found. Bikes found in the Bright Areas will obviously be designed for running on the perfectly maintained roads and are designed to be a symbol of wealth and power. Those bikes in the Dark Areas or the Wastelands are more functional, often covered in random material and spare parts from whatever can be found.
